How to Opt Out of FastPeopleSearch
Last checked: October 26, 2026
FastPeopleSearch is one of the most-visited free people-search sites in the US.
If you search your own name, its profile on you can show your current or old addresses, phone numbers, age, and relatives. Anyone can read it.
The good news: FastPeopleSearch has a free, official removal process. You do not need an account. You do not need to pay for anything.
This process works a little differently from most sites. It starts with your email address. You find your record inside the removal flow. You do not need your profile URL first.
Plan for a few minutes. Then you must click a confirmation link in an email. That link lasts about 24 hours. Your request is not final until you click it. After you confirm, FastPeopleSearch states removal within 72 hours. Many listings disappear sooner.
This guide walks through the exact steps, the mistakes that cause requests to fail, and how to confirm your listing was actually removed.
Quick answer
- Opt-out page: fastpeoplesearch.com/removal
- What you need: An email address you can open right away. You search for your record inside the removal process — you do not need your profile URL in advance
- How long it takes: FastPeopleSearch states removal within 72 hours of confirming your request; many listings disappear sooner
- Cost: Free. Do not pay for a report to reach the removal form
What this site shows about you
A standard FastPeopleSearch profile can include:
- Your full name and known name variations
- Age
- Current and past home addresses
- Phone numbers, including old landlines
- Relatives
- Possible associates
FastPeopleSearch builds these profiles by combining public records and other data sources.
Because the data comes from many places, you may have more than one listing. For example:
- One listing under your full legal name in your current city
- Another listing under a shorter name version in a city you left years ago
That matters. FastPeopleSearch treats each listing separately.
Step-by-step: remove your FastPeopleSearch listing
- Go to the removal page. Open fastpeoplesearch.com/removal. You can also reach the same process from the "Do Not Sell My Personal Information" link in the footer of the FastPeopleSearch home page.
- Enter your email address. Type an email address in the form. Use an inbox you can open right away. A confirmation link will be sent to this address later, and it expires.
- Check the box that confirms the record is yours. The box says you are the subject of the record, or you are authorized to request its removal.
- Complete the CAPTCHA. A CAPTCHA is a test to prove you are a person, not a program. The challenge sometimes has to be completed more than once before it is accepted. If it keeps failing, try a different browser. Or turn off a VPN, which can trigger repeated challenges.
- Click "Begin Removal Process." You will see a search page next.
- Enter your first and last name.
- Enter your city and state, or ZIP code.
- Click "Free Search." You will see a list of results.
- Find the result that matches you. Check the age, addresses, and relatives. Make sure it is your record, not someone else with the same name.
- Click "View Free Details." You will see your record page.
- Click "Remove My Record." Use the removal button on your record page. FastPeopleSearch then sends a verification email to the address you entered in step 2. Clicking this button alone does not finish your request.
- Open the verification email. If it does not arrive within a few minutes, check your spam and promotions folders.
- Click the confirmation link in the email. The link is valid for about 24 hours. Your request is not final until you click it. If the link has expired, start again from step 1. The process is quick to repeat.
- Repeat for every other listing. Search again under other name versions — a maiden name, a nickname, a middle-name version — and in each old city. Each separate record needs its own removal.
What trips people up
The confirmation click is the real submission. This is the most common FastPeopleSearch mistake. Clicking "Remove My Record" only triggers the verification email. Nothing is removed until you click the link in that email, and the link expires after about 24 hours. Requests that are never confirmed are simply dropped.
The CAPTCHA may not accept the first try. Multiple challenges in a row are common on this form. It is annoying, but keep going — it does eventually accept. Switching browsers or disabling a VPN also helps.
There is no profile-URL form. People arriving from other opt-out guides expect to paste a link to their profile. FastPeopleSearch does not work that way: the removal page asks for your email first, and you locate your record with the search inside the process. Starting from the home page search instead can leave you looking at your listing with no obvious way to remove it.
One removal does not remove all your listings. Each record needs its own removal. If you moved or changed your name, expect duplicates, and expect to repeat the process for each one.
Wrong-person removals. Common names produce near-identical profiles. Match on age, relatives, and address history before you click "Remove My Record," or you may remove someone else's listing while yours stays live.
How long and how to verify
FastPeopleSearch states that a confirmed removal is completed within 72 hours. Many listings disappear within about a day.
Wait at least three days before you check.
Then search your name and city on FastPeopleSearch again. Use a private or incognito window if possible. A cached page can look live even after removal.
If your exact profile no longer appears in the results, your request worked.
If the listing is still live after 72 hours, check these likely causes:
- A confirmation link that was never clicked
- A confirmation link that was clicked after it expired
- A second, similar listing that you are mistaking for the first
Restart the removal from the official page. Click the new confirmation link promptly. Make sure you are checking the same record you submitted.
When your listing comes back
Removal is not guaranteed to be permanent.
FastPeopleSearch refreshes its data from public records and other sources. A new public record can create a fresh profile months later. For example:
- A move
- A home purchase
- A voter registration update
- A new phone number
The new profile may use a slightly different name version or address. So it does not look identical to the one you removed.
This is normal across people-search sites. It is not a sign that your original request failed.
Make this a habit: search your name on FastPeopleSearch every few months. Repeat the removal for any new listing you find. Each new listing needs its own request, just like the first time.
Rather have it done for you?
Opting out site by site is free, but there are hundreds of data brokers and people-search sites, and listings can reappear. Paid removal services handle the requests and the re-checks for you. Two well-known options are Incogni and Optery. We link to their homepages here so you can compare plans and coverage yourself; no service can promise permanent removal from every site, so check what each one actually covers before you pay. If you subscribe through these links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.
